Bundesliga Round-Up: Schalke Hammer Dortmund, Bayern Crush Bremen

Marcello Bordon, Christian Pander, Gerald Asamoah, and Kevin Kuranyi were all on the scoresheet in Gelsenkirchen for the 130th Revier derby as Schalke extracted a measure of revenge over Dortmund for last May's costly defeat at the Westfalenstadion.

Dortmund, never in the game, replied through Nelson Valdez when trailing 3-0, but had a miserable afternoon capped by the sending off of Marc-Andre Kruska with five minutes remaining.

In Bremen, Bayern demolished Werder 4-0 with an exhibition of attacking football. Frank Ribery's 31st-minute penalty - earned for a foul on Luca Toni - set the championship favourites on their way.

Second-half goals from the Italian, Hamit Altintop, and Andreas Ottl sealed an emphatic victory - only their second in eight visits north.

Report: Werder 0-4 Bayern

Elsewhere, Hertha BSC came from behind to shock champions VfB Stuttgart 3-1 in the capital through goals from Sofian Chahed, Malik Fathi and Solomon Okoronkwo.

Arminia Bielefeld were denied a second successive win in a 2-2 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolfsburg got off the mark with a 3-1 win at Duisburg, and Nürnberg won 2-1 at Rostock.

Bayern sit alone at the top of the table, with six points from two games, though Hamburger SV could join them there if they beat Bayer Leverkisen tomorrow. Schalke 04 moved into second place thanks to their big win over Borussia.
